ORGILL’S ONLINE BROADCAST NETWORK EMERGES AS A POWERFUL NEW INFORMATION TOOL
BELLEVUE, Wash. ---Though it gets relatively little press, web-based video has become an important new way for hardware dealers and their partners to access and distribute information. With 34 percent of Internet users --39 million— now logging on via broadband, everyone in the supply channel is seeing the technology’s worth. And they are using it in some creative ways.
For instance Orgill, the world’s largest independent hardware distributor, made a significant commitment a few years ago to partner with iShow.com in developing the ORGILL ONLINE BROADCAST NETWORK as both an internal and external method of cost effective communication.
“When it comes to broadcasting via the Internet, Orgill is a leader in its industry. For example, their vendors can place video commercials and other promotional videos in the Orgill online catalog to drive additional sales which are now in excess of several million dollars per month at www.orgill.com”, says iShow president Paul Barnett. “Orgill’s 275+ sales force keeps sharp with video based online distance learning through ORGILL University. Each Dealer Market is promoted with an online video brochure as well as the “Hot Products News Channel” at each market where vendors showcase the latest products to the 6,000 strong ORGILL dealer network. It’s a very comprehensive commitment that Orgill has made and it will only become more effective in the future as broadband continues to grow dramatically”.
“Orgill is very committed to the continued development of the Orgill Broadcast Network. We like the early results and expect an even greater return in the future” says Mickey Orr, Webmaster, Orgill.com.
In a recent article featured at www.internetretailer.com several retailing giants including Toys R US, J.C. Penny and Wal-Mart, were quoted on the power of video to enhance the online retailing experience. In the same article, Forrester research was quoted as saying that online rich media ads in video and other formats would triple in the next four years with the online advertising market doubling to $14.8 billion by 2008.
“Orgill believes in the power of video to give our dealers the information they need to make good buying decisions and that is why we are adding product videos to our online catalog at www.orgill.com,” says Mickey Orr.
